Great buy if your game needs a battle grid.
Nice big mat. Feels very sturdy. While not reversible, with a mat this size and in plain white, I don't think being reversible would have been helpful. I might have liked to see a hex grid on the back side, but since I've adopted Wizard's own Dungeon Tiles, I guess I'll be sticking to square grids. Plus, I find that newer players tend to more easily wrap their heads around square grids than hex grids. The backside is actually fairly grippy so when you roll it up, it doesn't tend to unroll on its own. In fact, I most not even need a rubber band or anything to keep it together during transport. I cannot stress how helpful that is so I don't find myself fighting the mat each time I need to take it somewhere. With the squares being the standard 1 inch size, this will be perfect to combine with my Dungeon Tiles. That way, I can dynamically expand the area as needed whenever. This was definitely a good buy.

Great For Spatial Relationships in online Gaming
As I wrote for a product review elsewhere, this is perfect for D&D gaming over the internet. I'm in a group with four other gamers, and we play (for now) using Google+ and Hangouts. For dungeon encounters, the DM publishes little spreadsheet-grids for us to use as a reference, i.e., what the room looks like, how it's laid out. As for me, I have a terrible time with spatial relationships, and it creates confusing problems, such as this: Player 1: All right, my warlock jumps to the ledge at square EB135 and wangs a spell at the monster at AZ144 Player 2: My Barbarian advances from EB 136 to EB 145 and wallops the monster at EB 146 Player 3: My druid stays put at EF133 and casts a 30' spell centered on AY 144 Me: We're inside a room? This is a product made for nerds, dorks, geeks, whatever is your preferred descriptor. By day I am a simple programmer, this mat helps me analyze the algorithms I create, make burn charts, and just generally lets me doodle nerdy things when my brain can't process quick enough. By night I am a DM for D&D. This mat is large enough to create a beautiful map, and the squares are big enough for my player's miniatures. It comes rolled up and the mat comes out curved, but just a day or two on a table and it has flattened nicely. I haven't had problems erasing it, and it did survive a couple of spilled waters just fine so far. The mat has one side, and comes with 4 markers that are magnetic. Basically if you are looking to create an easy D&D table this is for you. If you are looking for a girlfriend, this mat will not make you appear any less nerdy than you are.

A must have for GMs
A must have for GMs. For quick, on the fly maps this is my favorite solution. Unlike other dry erase battle mats this one has a thick substantial feel instead of feeling like a laminated poster-board. The only draw back others might find is that it's one side, but I rarely used the reverse side on the other.

This mat worked great for my d&d group. We already had a mat but it wasnt that great so I bought this one hoping it would be better than the one I had. It is. The mat stayed perfectly flat on the table, the markers draw nicely, it erases exceptionally. I am glad I bought this product. The markers worked great with the exception of the green. It was lighter than I would have liked, but I mainly use the other colors anyway. I generally use black to draw the map, blue to highlight places on the map, and red to signify something important/interesting. The three colors show up clear on the map. A great product. I would recommend to other d&d groups. I will probably buy again if I ever need a new mat.

A D&D Must Have!
This is a great product! The mat works perfectly for short or long games. Editing the map is easy to do on the fly. The only drawback is that it curls inward on the ends if you store it properly but it is easily overcome by placing something in the corners. Also, as a caution, DO NOT use a dirty dry eraser to clean the mat. It tends to leave a tinted film on it. Clean up is super easy! The erasers on the marker tops work well or simply a paper towel and clean water. Definitely a great mat! It has helped our D & D game immensely! This is a must have for long term games! I can't wait to see more accessories from Evolve!

Great Purchase for D&D.
I've only used it twice so far but I can already tell this was a good purchase. The mat is clearly high quality, it's much thicker and made of a stronger material than I expected, but it's still flexible and can easily be rolled up. The lines are super clean and everything is evenly spaced. The markers it comes with work very well with the battle mat and erase easily with the erasers on top of the markers and with a napkin, towel, or even your finger if necessary. I've noticed no stains from previous use though I have made sure to do a light wash after each use to ensure it's cleanliness. I'm very pleased with this purchase and look forward to using it for each of my D&D sessions.

Theater of the mind is absolutely fine, but if you have a big party having a battle grid to clarify distances and positions in a combat environment (or even non-combat for that matter) can really bring a lot to you gaming session. It's a thick mat with markers provided, but any dry erase should do. Not sure how long it will last, but I'm positive it will be cheaper and less wasteful than grids made by paper that I tried before.

Ready to Roll!
I picked this up for my son to use while playing his Role Playing Games. He was super excited when it arrived. It came rolled up, but it didn't take much for it to flatten out. He actually set a shoe on each corner to get started. The markers that came with it, all worked sufficiently and erased well. I have read other comments, about the erasing aspect, but so far, he hasn't had any issues. Granted, he completely erases the mat when they are done playing. The size is perfect for his gaming. It is nice and large. The squares are easy to see and provide good guidelines for how they use the mat. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase. My son hasn't had any complaints and it truly lends to his gaming!
